Breathe

I pick up the phone and your voice catches me off guard

My heart skips a beat and it takes me a moment to respond

I hear your breath

And it moves through my entire body

A feeling of complete warmth overtakes me

As you speak, my mind imagines you standing in front of me

I can see you looking at me

Standing there looking into my eyes

I feel your breath on my face

We move closer to one another

Every breath you breathe is mine

And I yours

Our bodies touch

I can feel your heartbeat against my chest

We stand motionless

Simply breathing

Holding one another close

The only movement is the rhythmic rise and fall of our chests

As we breathe

I feel you inside me

Inside every part of me

Your love caresses my soul

My heart is so full of emotions

Yet I can’t move

All I can do is breathe

The beating of your heart fills my ears

And my breath quickens

You respond by taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly

I melt in the comfort of your arms

As I hold you even closer

Your breath becomes my own

And in that instant the world disappears

In this moment all that exists

Is just you and me

Standing closer than any two people have ever been

Utter contentment fills my entire being

As we share every feeling, every emotion, every breath

All I can do is hold you and look into your eyes And simply, breathe
